Perspectives towards terrorist attacks

I have always been intrigued by the fact that when a terrorist attack happens in a developed country, our FB walls are flooded with posts and discussions with everybody voicing their opinions but when the same happens in a developing or an under-developed country, I rarely see any posts.

Just wanted to acknowledge that in the past few days, around 100 people have died in India, Turkey and Afghanistan from terrorists attacks.

You know, it is a popular theory that in the show, 'The Walking Dead', the title refers not to the zombies but to the living people. I guess the same is true in our current world. Fans also say for the show, 'Pity the living. Fear the dead.'

And, if we are the cast of The Walking Dead, obviously, I would audition for the role of Daryl Dixon like so many others. 'If Daryl dies we riot'.

Indian political parties

Indian political parties are depressing or should I say a perfect reflection of the current society.

Synecdoche, New York

Finally had the courage to watch Charlie Kaufman's 'Synecdoche, New York' after almost 6 years of the film being in my possession. It is an achingly depressing film with pitiable characters. It is also one of the best films I have seen till date; a masterpiece for the lack of a better word.

इन झूठे सपनों को पाने के लिए दुनिया को काटना पड़ता है, ये काम आसान है,

अपने सच्चे सपनों को पाने के लिए खुद संघर्ष करना पड़ता है, वो काम बेहद मुश्किल,

इसीलिए हम आसान राह ही अपनाएँगे,

हम आँखों से निकाल के अपने सपने बाज़ार में बेच आएंगे,

विदाई

यह कविता हर उस विदाई के उपलक्ष पर लिखी गयी है जो हम ज़िंदगी में अपने प्रियजनों से लेते हैं, चाहे वो स्कूल से हो, कॉलेज से, नौकरी से या खुद ज़िंदगी से ।

इस समंदर के गुज़र,

माना न पहुंचे अपनी नज़र,

पर इन गुज़रते क्षणों को गर हम अपनी पल्कों पे संजोएँ,

फिर यूँ ही, खिलते रहेंगे गुलिस्ताँ, सजती रहेंगी महफ़िलें,

फिर स्वादानुसार उसे भी रात में डाल दो,

इस घोल को आठ घंटे सूरज की हल्की आंच पे रखो,

तो एक नारंगी भोर तैयार होगी,

वो थोड़ी-सी गरम, थोड़ी-सी ठंडी होगी,

उस भोर को चखो, वो ज़िंदगी की भोर है,

उसके स्वाद का मज़ा ही और है,

जीवन के हर दिन की गर शुरुवात ऐसी हो तो ज़िंदगी गुलज़ार हो ।

बिल्डर से बातचीत

एक बिल्डर से मिलने गए थे आज मैं और मेरी पत्नी, 
पूछना था क्या बादलों पे घर बनाते हो, 
ठहरे बादलों की नींव रखते हो या तैरते बादलों पे इमारते उगाते हो, 
उसने कहा बादलों का आज कल कोई भरोसा नहीं, वो हवा के जैसे आवारा हो गए हैं, 
कोई ज़माना था जब वो धीरे चलते थे अब ब्रह्मपुत्र की धारा हो गए हैं, 
जे.सी.बी में बादल, पत्थर और ओज़ोन घोलो, उसमें कार्बन और नाइट्रोजन मिलाओ, 
और जमे पानी की नींव पे ऊंची ऊंची बिल्डिंगें बनाओ, 
मैंने कहा प्रक्रिया नहीं, ये बताओ कौनसी मंज़िल का घर खाली है, 
कब तक कमप्लीशन होगा, कब की मूव-इन की तैयारी है, 
कहता अभी तो बस सबसे ऊपर का फ्लैट ही बचा है, 
अन्तरिक्ष बगल में है ना, इसीलिए कोई ना उसे लेता है, 
पत्नी ने कहा बड़े साहिब, अन्तरिक्ष बगल में है ये तो बहुत अच्छी बात है, 
दिन भर धूप सेकेंगे फिर रात, तारों को निकट से देखेंगे, 
बिल्डर भड़क उठा, कहा मैडम असल तो आपको पता नहीं, 
पुच्छलतारे का लगता है आपने कभी कूड़ा साफ किया नहीं, 
अन्तरिक्ष के पास घर लोगे तो दिन में भभकती गर्मी और रात को थड़थड़ाती सर्दी होगी, 
बादल उबाल उबाल पानी पीना पड़ेगा, 
और आपके लिए रोज़-दर-रोज़ हवा का इंतजाम कौन करेगा, 
मैंने कहा, शांत भ्राता, वो बात आपकी सही है, 
पर अन्तरिक्ष जैसे मोबाइल सिग्नल कहीं आते नहीं है, 
सोचो इंटरनेट की क्या ज़बरदस्त स्पीड होगी, 
वौटसएप, फेस्बूक तो दौड़ेगा, 
स्काईप पक्का क्रैश होगा और मूवीस पलों में डाउनलोड होंगी । 
बिल्डर ने शांत स्वभाव में फिर कहा के अन्तरिक्ष के इतने पास होने के बावजूद अगर आप चाँद नहीं मोबाइल देखोगे, 
तो ये फ्लैट आपके लिए नहीं है, फिर ना पूछना कब बेचोगे ।
